Next Wave Festival 2014 took place from 16 April – 11 May, exploring the theme New Grand Narrative.
As Artistic Director I was immensely proud to present this contemporary arts explosion of 38 new arts projects, from emerging artists across Australia, the Philippines, UK, Canada, Lebanon, Korea and the Netherlands.
BLAK WAVE was the keynote initiative of the 2014 Festival. It featured seven new arts projects, a generous and provocative talks series for industry and the general public, and a bloody wonderful night of Indigenous performance in the Festival Club.
BLAK WAVE also featured the launch of a new publication, co-curated with the uber-talented Tahjee Moar. This publication featured 28 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and curators offering powerful reflections on the future of Indigenous arts practice.
